Copenhagen is a lot tamer than it once was, but if you aks me, it’s still the seediest and arguably the most beautiful capital of the Scandinavian countries.

After living in Malmö for close to 2.5 decades, especially after the bridge was inaugurated back in July of 2000, I visit Copenhagen at least a couple of times a year. I’ve stayed at about two dozen different hotels and almost always feel at home every time I’m in the Danish capital. Like most great cities, Copenhagen has a wonderful mix of old, new, shiny, gritty, affordable, and outrageously pricey. Though I still don’t understand many words in Danish and without exception speak with them in English, they are always friendly and helpful. It’s no exaggeration to say that one of the foremost reasons for living in Malmö is having Copenhagen (and Kastrup!) so close by.
