Photos from Lisbon. The wonderfully hilly capital of Portugal where I have spent significant time documenting endlessly gorgeous urban environments.
I think Lisbon’s/Lisboa’s unique vibe and diverse milieus make it more approachable than any other European city I’ve photographed. It’s both dense and sprawling, full of energy, yet never as stressful as say Paris or London. There are so many wonderfully distinct neighborhoods, tiny squares, and cozy parks to enjoy. Not to mention the incredibly pleasing aesthetics in thousands of beautifully tile-clad buildings. The architecture in Lisbon is in itself reason enough to visit. Unlike many other capitals, Lisbon doesn’t offer the typical range of bombastic tourist sites, like Rome’s Colloseum or Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz. Instead, Lisbon has provides an abundance of subtle destinations worth seeing live that are more accessible and visitor-friendly. While it’s a fabulous city for folks that love to walk, the Portuguese capital also offers a vast tram and subway network as well as Uber and taxis.
